Ok, So it has been a while

Well it has been awhile since my last blog. I really need to get better at this. So here are some of the fun things that have happened in the past few month. First, today is Savanah's 6th birthday. We are so greatful for her sweet spirit in our home. Second, for Thanksgiving we went to see my sister and her family in Florida--my mom was there too. On the way we went and saw some of our churchs historical sites. Savanah had an incredibly spiritual experience there. It just goes to show that kids are so intune with the spirit. We had a lot of fun hanging out at my sisters going to the beach and just playing with the cousins. I think we started a new tradition of soccer on Thanksgiving morning. The only bummer was I broke a bone in my foot and came home to get a lovely boot that I had to wear for 6 weeks (I just got it off the other day). I learned that you can walk really fast in those things. All in all I think we are going to go every year because my sister is such a good cook.
Third, we had a wonderful Christmas. We were grateful that mom my could come and visit with us for the holiday. It is always nice to have the kids home and no homework. We also had a new addition to our family on Christmas--A NEW PUPPY. Yes, we finally came through with our promise to the kids and became the proud parents to a very handsome Yellow lab that we have named Lucky. We love him. For those that know how I can be a little uptight I have adjusted amazing well. He has been amazing. He is basically already potty trained to go to the back door and ring a bell, he know how to shake, and he loves to go on walks and play fetch (I have even found myself taking time out of my day to play with him). The best thing is that the kids are still so excited about him that they have been cleaning up after him (yes that means I have not had to pick up any poop).
Fourth, we have started a new year and feel very blessed to have the wonderful family and friend that we do. We hope that for everyone 2009 is a year that brings blessing to all.
Fifth, no I did not make a new years resolution to blog once a week but hopefully I will more often--no promises.
I am off to see the puppy. Happy New Year!

Ramblings

I am not a very good blogger. I have had many interesting things happen lately and I think about blogging. Now the only reason I am blogging is because my daughter has 8 girls over for a sleepover and it is 1:15am and only 3 of the girls are asleep. Pray they sleep in tomorrow. The first thing I should tell you is about the snake we had in our yard. Of course Troy and Austin thought we should keep it as a pet but I told them they were both going to have to move out. They changed their minds fast after we figured out that baby rattle snakes don't have their rattles but are just as poisonous as adult ones. To this day we are unsure if it was a rattle snake or only a bull snake (they are very similar in markings the only BIG difference is that one of them can kill you). So we sent in on its way (I will not put in writing how). Then a week later we heard about a lady on our street who called the police to come and remove a rattle snake. He captured it in a bucket and when he went to let it go it bit him. Then he drove to get help he passed out and high planed his police car near the golf course. The good news is that some golfers helped him and the doctors said it was a good that he came in because they found some much bigger issues (can't be too good if it is bigger issues than getting bit by a rattle snake). So let me tell you it was really fun weeding my yard today thinking about all that as I put my hand into a huge thatch of weeds. I really don't enjoy yard work--I would rather clean a bathroom.

I should also tell about my wonderful birthday. Thanks to everyone who made it so wonderful. I think I celebrated for about a month. I had the surprise party, the fun trip to Utah and then came home and kept celebrating till just a few days ago. I think when I turn 50 I am going to celebrate for a whole year. Troy is glad that it is 10 years away.

I got a new calling at church and I get to work with the young women. I am very excited. I love working with the young women--what a fun age--when your deciding just who you want to be.

The last thing I should discuss was how someone broke into a neighbors house the other day. What an awful feeling. I feel so bad for them and I think I am getting a little paranoid. I have already talked with Troy about some precautions that I think we should take. The one nice thing is that Troy is not traveling to Dallas anymore and he is working from home (or should I say will hopefully be working from home soon).

Well I am off to try and sleep. I don't think I can stay up for the whole movie that the girls just put on. I just hope they are all not extremely grumpy tomorrow. Only time will tell--who am I kidding of course they will be grumpy tomorrow. I hope I am not grumpy tomorrow. Goodnight or should I say goodmorning.

6 Random Things

I was tagged by http://meekhouseofinsanity.blogspot.com/
Here are the rules:
1. Link to the Person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.
5. Let your tagger know when your entry is up.

Here goes my 6 Random things.

1. My husband thinks I am a freak because when there is lightening out I have to have all the windows in the house closed. I think he is the freak that he thinks it is ok to have them open.

2. I keep wanting to go back to school and get a masters but the problem is that I can not pick just one. I want to get a law degree, a family counseling degree and a business degree. Who knows maybe one day I will get one of them or all three.

3. I am a clean freak. The problem is my house is never clean enough. I am always going through closets and trying but it just never seems to be clean enough. I am really obsessed with it.

4. I am a germaphobe. My 5 year old daughter started kindie this year and a girl asked if she could use her chapstick and she replied "no, my mom is a paranoid freak". It was a proud moment.

5. I love having my feet tickled. It has to be done slowly not fast. It is just very relaxing to me. When I was younger I would give my sister candy bars to tickle them. Can you believe she did it.

6. I have issues with needles and so I gave birth 4 times with no epidural. Some call me crazy but I didn't have to have that huge needle.

Ok, it was not easy but I did it. Tag Celia, Kelly

I am turning 40!!

I was nicely surprised last night by Troy with a surprise party for my 40th birthday. He said we were going out and then we ended up at a friends house with a lot of people. It was a surprise party for me and another friend who is turning 40. It was nice to see so many people. The boys even hired a band named "Joe fornothin". They were great. I was definitely surprised and it was a lot of fun. Wow I can't believe in less than a month I will be 40. I remember thinking 40 seemed old but now that I am getting there I don't think that way any more. Funny how your perspective changes. Thanks Troy for the great party and wonderful memory for my 40th birthday!

My dad came to visit

Ok so I am not so good at blogging since it has been over 4 weeks since my last blog but I am trying. We had a great visit with my dad and Roseanne a few weeks ago. They had gone to South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore. It was a long time dream of my dads (I am so glad he was able to do it). We had a great visit (short but sweet). We took a little walk in a place called Castlewood Canyon and then we went to dinner at Casa Bonita (it is a restaurant where they have cliff divers, shows, arcades). We had a good time. This is a picture of us in front of the restaurant. Dad, Thanks for taking the time to come visit us. We love when people come and visit.

My first blog

Many have told me I should do a blog but I have always had the excuse that I had no time. Now with all 4 kids in school I should be able to squeeze it in.
Savanah had her first day of kindergarten the other day and I had a mother moment that of course dads just don't understand. As we dropped Savanah off she was a little teary eyed but when it came time to go in I told her to be brave and have fun. So she turned and followed her teacher and didn't even look back. Troy then made the comment that it was great that she didn't even look back and yes I am sure that technically it is a wonderful thing but for the mother it is also a little sad to see her baby growing up. When she came out after school she gave me a hug and said she had a great time but missed me (Now that is perfect). She looks so grown up in her little uniform.
So the other three were patient as we took care of Savanah but they were also excited to get to their classes. Austin is in 2nd, Jacqueline is in 4th and Gabriela is in 6th (which is considered middle school at her school).
The amazing thing about all the kids being in school is that I didn't have as much time as I thought. After running all the errands that I saved for when they were back in school I came home to clean up all the messes that were left from all the fun we had last week. I cleaned the kitchen from the breakfast (pancakes, waffles, bacon, cantaloupe, scrabbled eggs and blueberry muffins--ok so we let each kid pick exactly what they wanted--it only happens once a year)
So then I baked a cake in the shape of a book, organized all the shoes so they can find them easily this year and then took a shower and had to run out the door to go get them. Of course I wanted to be one of the first in the carpool line (I was actually 3rd). Oh I did forget to mention that I did get to go have a nice breakfast with my husband after we dropped the kids off.
So first day of school was a mixture of emotions. Sad that the days of having a child wanting me to carry them all day and read stories every time I am trying to get something done is gone but happy to see them growing up into wonderful amazing children. The last thing I wanted to share is what Savanah said when I asked her if she got sad at school she said " I did but I sucked it in".
It was so cute. Oops! I forgot to explain the cake--Gabriela the other day gave advice to her siblings it was "Laugh like Crazy". So I decided that was a good saying to write on my book cake. Now I am finally done with my first blog entry after a few photo problems I think it is good to go. Have a great week.
